Description: Information Technology has become a key business function for almost every organisation and most, have great expectations of their investment in IT for the future benefits to the business – expectations that will enable the business to: reduce costs; standardise processes; enhance productivity; improve workflow and communications; sustain repeatable service levels; improve risk control mechanisms; implement new business strategies; gain competitive advantage by exploiting new technologies.
The course aims to explore these issues and is concerned with the alignment of the IT function with business strategy, that is, how IT can be positioned to support organisational goals and business objectives.

Objectives: The course will address the role and importance of Information Systems in support of business and organisational strategies. It will provide an overview of current technologies and complement this with discussions and analysis of contemporary business developments including enterprise computing, global systems, knowledge management, decision support, e-business, e-government, virtual organizations, social computing and the role of the Internet and the world-wide-web as an information resource for businesses and research.
On successful completion of the course students will have an understanding and appreciation of the underlying information technologies and be able to assess their role and potential in business strategy for achieving competitive advantage.

Teaching Methods: This module will be taught over a period of 13 weeks during which 2 hours per week will be devoted to lectures and 1 hour per week to tutorials. Lectures will introduce the material and will guide students towards their self-study. Tutorials will involve investigation of and discussion on specific topics as directed by the course lecturer.

Το πρόγραμμα προσφέρει συνολικά εννέα (9) υποτροφίες στις καλύτερες επιδόσεις κάθε κατεύθυνσης σε κάθε εξάμηνο, οι οποίες καλύπτουν το σύνολο ή μέρος των διδάκτρων.

Πλήρους Μερικής Φοίτησης

Το Π.Μ.Σ. προσφέρει τη δυνατότητα πλήρους φοίτησης και μερικής φοίτησης. Η χρονική διάρκεια για την απονομή του Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος Ειδίκευσης ορίζεται σε τρία (3) ακαδημαϊκά εξάμηνα για το πλήρους φοίτησης, ενώ για το μερικής φοίτησης η χρονική διάρκεια διπλασιάζεται.

Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Σπουδών

Στο Π.Μ.Σ. γίνονται δεκτοί ως υποψήφιοι πτυχιούχοι Τμημάτων Πανεπιστημίων της ημεδαπής ή αναγνωρισμένων ομοταγών ιδρυμάτων της αλλοδαπής, καθώς και πτυχιούχοι Τμημάτων ΤΕΙ συναφούς γνωστικού αντικειμένου.
